 Description of the Taiwan Flag. -Red with a dark blue rectangle in the upper hoist-side corner bearing a white sun with 12 triangular rays-According to Ancient and Heraldic traditions much symbolism is associated with colors. The colors on the Taiwan flag represent the Three Principles of the People. -Blue: Democracy -Red: Nationalism -White: People's livelihood -The emblem on the Taiwan flag pictures a white sun with 12 triangular rays which symbolize the twelve months -The Taiwan flag was designed by Lu Hao-tung in 1895 -It was adopted as the national flag on December 17, 1928  The plum blossom, prunus mei, was officially designated by the Executive
Yuan of the Central Government to be the national flower on July 21, 1964.

 - Recycle Symbol in Taiwan  The Taiwan emblem is known as the “Blue Sky with a
White Sun”. It was designed in 1895 by a Republican revolutionary
leader, Lu Hao-tung. The sun represents progress and spirit. The twelve
rays that extend outward from it represent the twelve months of the
year, and also the twelve Chinese hours. The Taiwan emblem is also used
on the national flag.
